iTunes could not back up iPhone because the backup session failed.

Just ran into this issue.

Plugged in my iPhone like usual and it went through the sync like normal.
At the end though, it gave this message...

"iTunes could not back up iPhone because the backup session failed."

Suggestions?

Thanks.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1), Running latest version of iPhone software too!

Hello,

I have the exact same problem but with a new iphone out of the box. Syncing and putting things on the iphone works like a charm. But as soon as it starts to backup I get this error message.

I tried restarting the phone, restarting the computer, different usb ports, with nothing else connected to macbook pro early 2008 running snow leopard and iTunes 9.0.1.

All over the web I read about this problem but just with iPhones that were jail broken.

Anybody a hint?

Thank in advance!
