iphone have blackberry messenger?

I am switching from a blackberry to an iphone- everyone I know says blackberrys rule but i think they are ok, except that face that they have a blackberry messenger. From my understanding, blackberry messenger is for users with blackberrys, and they can message each other by sharing their pins. I was told by many people that the iphone has an app for EVERYTHING and that I can get a blackberry messener. I dont agree with this, but I do not have and iphone yet to dertermine the tuth of this- well can I???

I have been using ping, and while it works sometimes it can not be relied upon as a percentage of your messages will never be delivered. People have written that in the app comments, and i didn't believe it, but i did some tests with my friends and it is true, not all messages are delivered 100% of the time.
And unlike BBM it does not tell you if the message was received/read, or if the other person is online or typing.
I think the app has a lot of potential, and that a lot of people are eagerly awaiting an update that fixes the delivery problem for starters...

Helmet, you are correct.

BBM will force you (literally) to be online once you activate it, and it doesn't have the option to go offline. Adding to that push messages. Delivered & Read reports are also wonderful. Finally it is FREE and installed on every BlackBerry phone. It is really a true alternative to SMS with many extras! The intergration of BBM within the OS of the phone is really amazing. Unfortunately any iPhone messenger will never be able to compete with it no matter what.

Nokia & WinMo messengers didn't copy BBM options nor extras, and many users have switched only to use BBM (I'm one of them). Unless Apple produce the same messenger on iPhone, BBM will be the king of chat, unfortunately.

BBM is a proprietary app that uses the proprietary features of the RIM mail server so it is unlikely you will see anything similar on any other phone whether it be an Android, WinMO, Symbian or Apple. If this is a feature someone really needs it is a main selling point of the Blackberry and that is the phone they should get.

Given that they would almost certainly have to expand the MobileMe servers by at least 4-fold, drop charging for it, and almost certainly have to license the technology from RIM, I doubt that it will be seen on any of the competing phones anytime soon. I doubt that the feature would sell that many more phones to make it worthwhile and profitable.

Ping! is just an iPhone to iPhone messaging system. It doesn't make sense to restrict yourself to just iPhone. I would use any app like AIM instead of Ping! any day.

However, if you do wish to use BBM on your iPhone there is now a way to do it. This link demos the first time this was ever done, a few days ago:

There is another link on the Youtube video description that instructs how you could do the same the author of the video did.
