Best charging procedures for battery longevity

Is it okay for me to simply plug my iPod classic (new 160GB) into my PC whenever I want to recharge it? Or is it recommended to fully discharge it first before doing do? Also, is there any drawbacks to unplugging and using the iPod before it is fully charged (besides having less music/video playback time)?

Yes.

Maybe once in a while, but not necessary every single time.

None that I've ever experienced in years using various iPods.
