Epson Stylus Photo R280 Stopped Working After Mac OS X Update

I have an Epson Stylus Photo R280 hooked up to my iMac running Snow Leopard. Yes, I upgraded my drivers months ago to the Epson supplied 10.6x drivers. The other day, Software Update showed an 'Epson Printer Drivers Update' and I installed accordingly. When I try and print now, I get the following error:

Error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpII.app/Con

and the job doesn't print. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the Epson Snow Leopard drivers, but to no avail. Is there a way to uninstall an Apple update? It seems their update has killed my printer and I can't fix it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

To anyone who might be searching this error, I ended up calling Epson. They had me remove the printer from System Prefs/Print & Fax. Then, Ctrl-Click in the window, and click Reset Print System. They then had me download and install the Epson Common Updater which is available under the R280's drivers download section on their website. I then re-added the printer in Print & Fax, and it works now.

This was very helpful.

I have an Epson Photo Stylus Photo R260 and, after updating the driver through Software Update in Snow Leopard, got the same error message when I tried to print: "rastertoescpII fail."

I did as you explained: deleted the printer from system preferences > print & fax; control-clicked to bring up the contextual message and reset my printing system; then downloaded (again) the combo update to the print driver from Epson (the driver designed for Macs running both Snow Leopard and Leopard).

Everything's working just fine again.
