I went to a site this morning that I got out of the Yellow Pages for a Dr. Obviously it was not a Dr. The opening page said something along the lines of:

"yOu haVe JUst bEen sTolen" <--- or something close to that in that kind of spelling.

Kind of scared me and I do not have a clue what to do to protect my computer in that way.

Could someone please assist?

as William said, the site has most likely been hacked. but there is NO known mac malware that can infect your computer simply by opening a website. the only known mac malware you have to actively download, then open it by hand, then run the program inside by hand AND give it your admin password. it's clear from your post that you've done none of these things so you are quite safe.
