Can't install Bonjour on Windows 7 (RTM 7600)

I keeps giving me the following error:

"Service 'Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privilege to start system services"

I have tried both running as administrator and also trying to run it through windows XP compatibility mode with no luck. Please help.

Other OS, WINDOWS 7

Bonjour is part of iTunes and is used to broadcast your system to others for one thing.

Check msconfig startup items, check programs - you may want to uninstall.

If you have never run system file checker you might want to do that:
sfc /scannow

What did you install to add it? and do you need to use it?

I just got Bonjour to work using the shrink wrap version of Windows 7 Home Premium.
I did have the most recent iTunes installed.

Here's what I did:

1. downloaded the most recent installer from Apple.
2. Ran the installer and used it to remove the existing Bonjour installation.
3. Did a cold reboot of the Windows laptop.
4. Ran the Bonjour installer again and the short cut appeared on the destop, selected the printer and that was that.
5. iTunes works fine too.

I don't know if this will solve your problem; I found this tip in another thread. Many thanks to the other poster.
