I keeps giving me the following error:

"Service 'Bonjour Service' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privilege to start system services"

I have tried both running as administrator and also trying to run it through windows XP compatibility mode with no luck. Please help.

Other OS, WINDOWS 7

Bonjour is part of iTunes and is used to broadcast your system to others for one thing.

Check msconfig startup items, check programs - you may want to uninstall.

If you have never run system file checker you might want to do that:
    sfc /scannow

What did you install to add it? and do you need to use it?

I am trying to install bonjour on its own. This is a secondary PC in my room so I don't need to install itunes with it. Do i need to install itunes first to use the service? I need bonjour so my ipod can auto detect this computer in apps like snatch server or off helper for example.

No one? Why won't it let me start the **** service? I tried installing itunes to somehow try to make it install and start properly but I still get the same error message.

I just got Bonjour to work using the shrink wrap version of Windows 7 Home Premium.
I did have the most recent iTunes installed.

    Here's what I did:

    1. downloaded the most recent installer from Apple.
    2. Ran the installer and used it to remove the existing Bonjour installation.
    3. Did a cold reboot of the Windows laptop.
    4. Ran the Bonjour installer again and the short cut appeared on the destop, selected the printer and that was that.
    5. iTunes works fine too.

I don't know if this will solve your problem; I found this tip in another thread. Many thanks to the other poster.

What printer driver did you use? Did it offer the matcing one for your printer or did you use the generic PS driver?

It offered the matching PCL5 driver for my printer which is what I used.
