Keynote to PDF Automator Script

I've seen a number of posts in this discussion forum asking about an automated way to generate PDF files from Keynote presentations. I've wanted something like this myself for ages.

Using Automator on Snow Leopard, I've written the following "droplet" application to work with Keynote '09:

It places the resulting PDF file on the Desktop.

If I could, I'd make the script place the PDF file in the same folder as the original Keynote file, but I couldn't figure out how to do that.

Anyway, just wanted to share, hope this helps someone -- it works for me on Snow Leopard and with Keynote '09 -- your mileage may vary.

Great work here! Another way I found to convert Keynote and Pages docs to PDF is by installing the CUPS_PDF driver and then dragging the doc files to a desktop virtual printer. The advantage to exporting to PDF this way is that you can select various print option not available in the "Save as PDF" option. For example, I choose "Don't print slide background" for hand-outs.

Now, if anyone has figured out how to watermark these PDF files with Automator, please let me know. There is no way in Automator that i know of to save the watermarked files with their original name. Great, so I have watermarked files, but now they are in a random mess of file names.
