Itunes crash

Since upgrading to snow leopard on both my IMAC and on my macbook pro when I try to add songs to itunes through the "add to library" function, ITunes crashes. It works ok through the itunes store but not when adding other mp3 files. Has anyone else had this issue? How do I fix it?

imac & macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

HI,

To use custom settings with MP3 encoding:

Choose iTunes > Preferences, click General, and click Import Settings.

Choose MP3 Encoder from the Import Using pop-up menu.

Choose Custom from the Setting pop-up menu.

Big time problem on the macbook! Itunes locks-up the works. Only hard reset is able to get out. Reinstalled SL and Itunes but to no avail. Searched on my HD for any file related to itunes and deleted it. At the moment, as long as I don't go near podcasts, I can run Itunes, play music and radio! I sure hope Apple is working on it or else I have to sent the Snow leopard back into the snow!
