Windows 7 RTM, error 10057 and TimeCapsule

When I try to access the configuration of my Time Capsule using AirPort (5.4.2) on a Vista or Windows 7 PC I get the following error:

Error 10057 - An error occured whilst trying to access the Apple Wireless Device.......

The PC's are directly connected to the Time Capsule and it makes no difference if Windows firewall is on or off. I have also re-installed the software. If I connect my MAC Book pro I have no issue and can read the config. I read a few articles that said a hard reset would work, it didn't!

Any ideas?

AHA, found the issue, I had disabled IP V6 on my Win 7 machine. Enabled it and then I was able to access the configuration.

Hmmph. I looked where you described and my IPV6 box is ticked by default. Everything on my computer is running as per default on Windows 7 and I STILL cannot access my Airport Extreme router, which has worked flawlessly in Vista and XP since I bought it.

It wont discover any devices, on the odd occasion I rebooted it did, but then threw up the 10057 error before losing it again.

I am connected on my pc directly, and have the internet working, so I dont understand why I cant access the router??

Can someone help on this, or direct me to a support link where I can get some advice on this stupid product?

Cheers in advance.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem to connect to the Airport Express (using Win 7). After trying a lot of things I simply disabled the firewall (F-secure 2010). Then there was no problem accessing the Airport Express settings with Airport Utility 5.4.2. I turned the firewall back on and found among the firewall settings that IP6 traffic was blocked by default. After changing the setting to 'normal' in F-secure I no longer have a problem accessing the Airport.

+If you disconnect the Ethernet cable, doesn't Airport Utility even find your Airport Extreme? How about the wireless network card in your computer? Is it set to the same network (SSID) as the Airport is located on?+

My PC doesnt have a wireless card (its not a laptop, just a tower pc) so am not trying to connect to it via wireless. All my wireless devices connect fine to the airport, macbook etc, its just my pc which is physically connected which cant see the airport.
