What does this mean?

Ran Disc Utility, Repairing permissions, and got these two messages:

SUID File: System/Library/CoreS ....has been modified and will not be repaired
SUID file: System/Library/Private.....has beenmodified and will not be repaired

What does this mean, how much trouble is the computer facing?
Disc Utility will not permit me to run Repair Disc

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

None. Just ignore those messages.

Disc Utility will not permit me to run Repair Disc

The active Mac OS X startup disk can't be repaired from the Disk Utility.

you should post the full messages. yours are cut off.

none at all. such messages are generally harmless and should be ignored.

Disc Utility will not permit me to run Repair Disc

that's normal. you can only repair the startup disk while booted from a different disk like the install DVD. but you can verify disk to see if it actually needs repairing.

It should say "Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices....."
Did you delete Warning" in your post?

Can't repair a mounted drive. Run Verify Disc, if no errors, you're ok

Permission Repair Messages

It's much ado about nothing. Just ignore this type of message. After repairing permissions, the only thing of importance usually is that you receive a message that the permissions repair completed. [Here is a list of disk utility messages that can be safely ignored|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448].
