Matrox MXO2 Mini & FCP

I posted this in Creative Cow as well. I thought I'd see if anyone here had some ideas...

I just got a MXO2 Mini and I have what I'm sure is a stupid question that's been asked and answered 100 times, but I can't find the answer.

I've connected Mini to my MBP via PCI slot. Connected LCD via HDMI to the box. No video. I've gone to View > Video Playback and my options are None and Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main. I'm spitballing here, but I think I should have some more options. I've also tried External Video > All Frames. It resets to Off.

Any help for a self-admitted novice?

Thanks.

Hi,
yes you should see more options under that menu.
There should be several options starting with MXO2 Mini reporting all the different frame size and rates.
It looks like you haven't installed properly the software to manage your MXO2.
The software must be installed after FCS is already installed in your system, not before.
Also if you go under system profile and check for your CARDS, you should see a multimedia card with drivers reporting yes, when your card is recognized and the drivers are loaded.

Hope this might help figuring out what happened to your installation.
Regards,
Armando.

Hi James

Do you see a light in the front of the unit that indicates that it is turned on and operational? If not please try pressing the power switch on the rear of the unit. Once it is powered on does the power light blink/pulse slowly or is the light steady. Open up your OS X System Preferences and check the Matrox MXO2 Mini preference pane ... what does it say under the Info tab?

Armando,

The initial problem that I had, which I discovered right after I posted, was that I hadn't downloaded the drivers. Since the Mini didn't come with a CD, I didn't even think to do that. Now I've downloaded 1.6, which seemed to be the latest version for Leopard, and installed. I've opened System Preferences and I have an icon for the Mini. When I open it and click thru the various tabs, they're all grayed out. Now under the View>Video Playback, I see a choice for Matrox, but next to it says [Missing]. How do I need to set up my audio/video settings?

Thanks for your help.

JD
