Mighty Mouse ball doesn't MOVE

My Mighty Mouse stopped scrolling down…
I held the mouse upside down and vigorously rubbed the ball over a piece of white paper… and worked fine.
Now the scrolling up it's working BUT the scrolling down is not anymore… not only the scrolling [cursor thing] but the ball doesn't MOVE at all.
What can I do?

All I can say is get the new Magic mouse. The scroll balls are notorious for failing. There are sites out there directing you how to take it apart and clean it. You could try that but I found I did more damage to the mouse than good.

Same thing happens to me.
I have a can of compressed air...Power Duster (TM).
I give the ball a shot when it act up and it works for a week or so.

It's probably a combination of dust and finger/skin oils. Not much can be done but the compressed air trick works for me.
