Q: app icons vanished from dock

after a few weeks on 10.6.1 a couple of app icons (including Stickes) vanished from dock, they come back and go again too. They were there, now they are not. A black space is left which still launches the app and they run fine. Icons are also slow to appear under recent items, Final Cut and Adobe Bridge appear as generic icon under the menu but not in dock or finder.

mac book pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Sounds like a corrupt LaunchServices database. Run this one-line Terminal command to rebuild your LaunchServices database:

*/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user*
