Upgrading my 1st generation iPod touch to the current version

I have the first iPod touch that was released in September 2007.

I never got round to upgrading it to the 2nd generation software so that I could use apps etc on it.

Now when I finally decided that I would upgrade it so that I can use apps on it, it seems that the 3rd upgrade is only available to customers with the 2nd generation version (with apps already on it).

Is there anyway AT ALL in which I can upgrade my 1st generation iPod touch so that I can get apps etc on it?

Please help as I can't find it anywhere else.

Not true. The new update is for all ipod touches.

Yes upgrade to the new software. There is NO requirement at all that says it is only for newer ipod touches.

Anyone can upgrade any ipod touch to the new software.
