Can anyone recommend a good Genealogy program for the Mac? I am running Legacy7 on my, soon to be no more, pc. The program would have to be compatible with Gedcom files so I can transfer the data from the Legacy7 pc program.

I have already contacted Legacy and they do not have a Mac equivalent.

Thanks

Check out -> Reunion 9
From the Features list
"Import/export. Full GEDCOM import/export lets you transfer data into Reunion without re-typing. You can exchange data with users of other genealogy software (Windows or Macintosh). If you've been collecting information in FileMaker or some other database program, Reunion also features a "text file import, to help you bring the data into Reunion."

It would help to know which Mac operating system you are using. That way, we can direct a moderator to move your thread to the appropriate forum. This is a feedback about Discussions forum, not a place to ask technical advise about your Mac. Please read about posting new topics at the header of this forum, or at the link below:

To avoid duplication of your thread, just telling us the operating system you are using, will allow us to ask a moderator to move your thread.

No, for the basic answer to which genealogy software to use, it is not that germane; for a specific version of the selected software it is germane. As an example, Reunion is/was available for both Mac OS 9 and Mac OS 10, so if the OP decided on Reunion, then the next step would be which version based on the OS in use.

Nonetheless, the OP would be better served by going to the website I posted earlier, as these boards are for APPLE produced software and hardware. The last time I looked, Apple hadn't released any genealogy software.

No problem!
Here is some additional info that may be useful.

The info posted below is also available in the User uploaded file Announcement How to Post a New Topic

If you have a Technical question about Apple Hardware, Programs, Services, Technology, Software, Applications, Products, etc, from this page Discussions - Forum Home, select an appropriate Category from one of the sixteen divisions.

For example, under Mac OS X Related Software, choose the Category Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard.

On the page that opens, select a Forum, such as Installation & Setup, or Using Mac OS X Snow Leopard. (Where your Topic has been placed.)

Most Category pages, have numerous Forums within them.
But some may have only one, two, or three.
For example, the Safari Category page, has two choices listed under Forum / Category:
Safari For Windows
Safari for Mac Support forum.

And the Apple Remote Desktop Category, has only one Apple Remote Desktop Forum.

Click here to access the iPod Category page, and here for the iTunes Category page.
Click here for the iPhone Category page.

From a Category page, select an appropriate Forum to post in.
On Forum pages, there is an option to Post New Topic.

It can be confusing, but explore the different areas, and you will acquire a better understanding of the hierarchy.

I have an ancestry subscription(world) and have uploaded my family tree there but as you say printing it off and really seeing it is not the easiest. I also have a subscription to Genesunited and have uploaded my tree there as well. Tho it provides a better look at my pedigree it also is very difficult to print. Think I will take a shot at Reunion and see how it works.
