Advice on good monitor for mac mini

Hi there,

Currently considering an iMac or Mac mini and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a good widescreen monitor on a budget to go with the mini if I go down that route..?

Many thanks,

JH

I have two Acer monitors, a 17" standard and a 23" widescreen (model H233H) that I'm currently using and have been very pleased with both --- no dead pixels, good contrast and brightness.
I purchased mine at Costco but you can also get one from Newegg

We have a Samsung LCD 22" widescreen monitor with DVI port for a mini-to-monitor connection. Works great, bought from Sam's. Suggest you buy locally, and Sams and Costco are two good sources. By mail order, vendors often have a minimum number of dead pixels required before you can return a monitor, and if yours has less, it could still be enough to bug the tar out of you.

I had to choose one month ago a monitor for a Mac mini on a cost base and ended up with a Samsung SyncMaster T240. You have to like the casing, as it is more a tv screen look. But you get 1900x1200 resolution, connectors for DVI, VGA and HDMI. There is also a 2port USB2 Hub included and also low power consumption in standby.
I just hooked up my new mini to the ADC, 30" (2560x1600)....Looks great.
Not making much sense here dude. You mean the 30" Apple Cinema Display? ADC = Apple Display Connector. If so of course it looks great it is a beautiful display, but that is useless information. What is important is how the mini's integrated video chip which is using main memory handles such a massive display with a hi-res such as 2560x1600.

Specifically, is expose' choppy? How about resizing windows such as Finder windows with background pictures in icon view, is it fluid or choppy? How about scrolling large PDF files with many charts, images etc is this choppy and is the CPU getting taxed? (open Activity Monitor and hit command+4 to display the horizontal CPU meters).

Post back let us know some details

I would also be very intersted by how this thing works.

Any problem with the mini-display port to dual-link DVI adapter ? Any lines on the screen when displaying a very dark image full screen ?

I would actually appreciate any details on this because I'm about to buy the same stuff, and I'm pretty much scared by the comments about the adapter here and there.

I hate glossy screens and noisy machines, so the mini with the 30" Cinema Display is a dream, unless they don't work together well.
