Error 8012

What is error 8012?
I cannot download anything from ITunes!

i am also getting this error - i tried to upgrade from 'words with friends free' to the regular 'words with friends' for $1.99 using my iphone. i got an error about something being modified, try again later, so I went back to the app store on my iphone, and tried again, and it said to hook up to my computer to download. it shows up in my check for purchases list, but it won't download - just gives me error 8012

what can I do now? it shows up that I paid for this when I view my account history. I want my money back or I want the app, what can I do?

Hi Fiona,

Welcome to Apple Discussions.

It's possibly related to Privoxy. Temporarily disabling it will solve the problem. Adding '.apple.com' to Privoxy's fragile sites list (under site-specific rules in the default.action file) will fix it permanently.

If you're not running Privoxy, it may be related to other proxies, firewalls or such that you may be running.

I am having the EXACT same problem with the EXACT same app. I bought it last night and then had this problem for hours. Tried again this morning and still no go on either phone or in iTunes. Must be something with Words with Friends. Or we had bad timing trying to buy it. Hope someone has an idea on how to fix it.

I have seen this fix posted everywhere but have no idea what Privoxy is so I doubt that's the issue. 😟

I am having the same problem and I recieved the exact email back from apple, about temporarily disabiling Privoxy.. and so on... I have no idea what all that means. I tried to download it off of ITUNES and it continues telling me to try again. If you find out how to fix this please tell me.
