Mount Drives that are connected to an Imac on my mac pro

Hi guys

I'm trying to share a external 1TB drive that is connected to my iMac as well as share some directories on the iMac ---> MacBook Pro. I've went through the sharing configuration panel, however they appear under Shared/computer_name and i'd have to login to be able to access those files, what i wanted to do is to be able to mount those drives as virtual drives on the laptop or just create a sym link from the a directory in the laptop to the dirs that i want shared on the imac.. Can you guys point me in the right direction?

Can you create it as a mount point in the iMac's System Preferences > Sharing, then unlock the padlock, check the "file sharing" checkbox, click the "\+" under "shared folders," navigate to and select the external drive, then click the "\+" under "users," and add the desired user, group, and anyone access privileges?

I've done that already but they are showing up in the finder under shared under (computer name). What i wanted to do is have the drives show up in finder in my documents or in hard drive. Sharepoints worked it created the share and came up as a mounted drive however once i restarted or the computer hibernated, that drive disappeared.

In the menubar, Finder > Preferences > General, do you have "external disks" checked?

Once displayed on your desktop as a remotely mounted drive, after having logged in and selected the desired folder to be mounted, drag the icon to the dock. That should let you have a single-click on demand volume mount.
