Cannot delete a buddy group on iChat

There is a buddy group called, "Near me," on my iChat that I only use for aim. There are no buddies in the group. I keep deleting the group but it just comes back when I click on a new window. How do I get rid of the group? Thanks.

MacBook (13-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Hi,

Welcome to the  Discussions

When you say "On AIM" do you mean on their web site or in AIM Express or in AIM for Mac ?

There is at least one group that is only held at the AIM server called Recent Buddies.
This is a list of the people who you have contacted (or they, you) that you have not added to your Buddy List. You cannot delete this but you can turn off it's Display in iChat > Preferences > Accounts.

I am wondering if this is a Similar type group (Or even has been Renamed)
