Why is Safari (4.0.3) still not able to display streaming stock market quotes from Yahoo like Firefox can?

Because Yahoo! doesn't support Macs; they code everything with Windoze users in mind.

That's of course a lot of BS! Yahoo does support Firefox for the Mac. So it's got to be a Safary issue!

No, it's not. Yahoo! doesn't support Macs for any of their services. It works in Firefox because Firefox is the second most popular browser for Windoze, and that's the issue here: Yahoo! codes everything for Windoze. No amount of wishful thinking or blaming of Apple can change that.

Firefox for Windows and Firefox for Macs are completely different browsers! But it still works on Firefox for Macs!

No, they are not. They are the same browser; the only difference is in the UI.

    HI,

The minimum requirements for Yahoo Finance streaming quotes is:

    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
    OPERATING SYSTEMS:
    Windows 98/2000/ME/XP (Pro & Home)
    JAVA ENABLED BROWSERS:
    Internet Explorer 5.0 and above
    Netscape Navigator 6.0 and above
    LATEST JAVA INSTALLED:
The application will download the latest version for you.
*We do not currently support Macintosh or Macintosh running Windows XP.*

That information is available bottom right corner of this page:
    http://billing.finance.yahoo.com/realtime_quotes/signup?.src=quote&.refer=nb

*"But it still works on Firefox for Macs! "*

Yes, it does. It goes without saying, Safari and Firefox are two different browsers written by two different companies.

So use Mozilla's Firefox. Maybe if enough people complain to Yahoo, they'll suppport Safari.
