how do I convert from .mov to .mjpg?

I recently purchased a Digital Picture Frame from Brookstone that only takes motion JPEG/.avi movies.
I guess this is also referred to as MJPG.

I assumed that QT pro wold convert to this format, but was wrong. I've looked online for an application that would do this, but haven't found one for the Mac.

Does anyone know of a way to convert my videos to this format? ( preferably for free or a low cost)

Motion-JPEG is a video codec supported by QuickTime and the Pro upgrade can export using this codec.
The files will use the .mov container (not .avi) and maybe that is your trouble?
Many digital cameras (my old Canon) can shoot short videos that are Motion-JPEG in an .avi container and I guess this is what your device expects.

I see an MPG-4 option to export, but not a Motion -JPEG.

I see an option to save to a .avi (I've tried that and it doesn't work)

Are you saying when I save the movie as a .mov file it's actually a Motion-JPEG?
I don't understand the concept of a container.

Any suggestions for a way to have this file read by the Picture Frame Reader?

Water.
It could be in a bucket, a bottle or a water ballon. Water is the codec and the rest are just ways to carry it.
Motion-JPEG is a codec ( Compressor / decompressor).
In a QuickTime Pro "export" you can choose both the container and the codec. Not all codecs are available to each container.
Choose "Movie to QuickTime Movie" (.mov container) and click the "Options" button. You'll have a new window and you can select the "Compression type" (codec) and other options.
Unfortunately the Motion-JPEG codec is not available when exporting to AVI.

Thank you again for the education. I downloaded an upgrade to QTpro, while waiting for your reply; hoping there would be a new solution.

Do you know any third party solutions or QT plugins that would allow me to accomplish this task?
