Other than the processor speed, is there any other benefit to purchasing the i7 quad core over the i5 quad core IMac? I will be buying one of the new IMac's in a couple of weeks and wanted to know what other people though about it.

Macbook 2.2 GHz 4GB RAM, iPhone 3GS White 32GB, iPod Nano 8GB, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

I agree with the i7, if you are a serious gamer get the most power you can afford. The other applications it's not as critical however you should have a nice fast computer.

Yes, there is a big difference. The i7 has hyperthreading enabled, whereas the i5 does not. What does that mean? That means that each core on the i7 can run two simultaneous threads at once. So while you have four physical cores, you can have up to eight virtual cores.

Go for the 2.8 Ghz Core i7.
