Iphone 3G S wont turn on. At all.

I have a 16 GB iphone 3G S, and I have been using it a while today. I took it out of my pocket at about 1:30 p.m. and it wouldnt turn on. I dismissed it thinking it was just un charged. When I got home, I put it in the charger for about an hour. WHen I came back, it was still blank and wouldnt turn on. I tried it in three different outlets and the same thing is happening. Help?

The exact same thing just happened to me. Was working just fine, and then suddenly stopped working entirely. Like you are experiencing, it just wouldn't turn on, and as far as I know you cannot remove the battery to reset it so I'm not sure what to do now.

If you find out anything, please let me know. I have it in the charger now, but iTunes is reporting an error in trying to read the phone.

Well I found an Apple troubleshooting page, and they suggested a reset by holding the home and sleep buttons together for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears... and that seemed to work. I don't know why it shut down in the first place, but nice to know a reset resolved the problem.

Good to hear yours is now working. :o)

WOW! thank you! i have this problem all the time, and my iphone wasn't charging or turning on at all. i held down home and sleep and it totally turned on.

I had the same problem occur today. The phone was working just fine throughout the whole day then all of a sudden it wouldn't switch on even when plugged in to power. the reset advise above did the job, everything works just fine now and no data lost. thanks a heap!
