Hi Forum,

after getting my new Mac Pro 8 core with Snow Leopard I have connected my FireWire Devices with help 0f 400 to 800 cables as there is no FW 400 port anymore. My Devices are an Elgato EyeTV 200 and a MOTU ultralight.
The EyeTV device is not recognized and the MOTU does appear in the system profiler but not in the in the Audio Midi Setup....
Are you aware of any issues with that kind of cables?

I am using a 800 to 400 cable to connect my Pinnacle movie box and a 800 to mini DV for a Mini DV camera with no issues?

Where did you get your cables? Are they of good quality?

Are you sure actual cables were/are necessary? This company actually sells it's own model of these for less but these are highly thought of and have worked for me.

Thanks for your answer,
I have two different cables. One from Hama, the other one from LaCie. Both are well known vendors. I have switched the cables without success. I do not think that both cables are broken.

do you know if this adapter has some active electronic inside? Probably a passive cable does not work????

I don't see the need for an active electrical component, basically they are just connecters.

Do you have the latest software update from El Gato?

I was not sure about active vs. passive adapters. Anyway, I have the latest EyeTV. Even the latest one from yesterday ....

Hi!

I am not sure if this is the right forum group, but a quick question:

Did you have any trouble operating / connecting your Pinnacle moviebox after installing Snow Leopard? I used it for digitising my vhs / hi8 recordings on my Leopard system, but after installing Snow Leopard on my MacBook, it has stopped working.
