20" and 23" monitors and PC video cards. Again.

There are numerous threads on this topic including one lengthy one, but they are inconsistent and difficult to use because not enough information is provided in most cases. Many of the responses seem to be from Mac users; often "it works" posts don't specifiy whether post info comes up or which resolutions work; and often video card models but not manufacturers are noted -- and sometimes the alleged model doesn't exist (eg, "GeForce 9800").

Perhaps we could we try again, posting specifics using this template:

Monitor :
Video card manufacturer :
Video card model :
Operating system :
Displays post info :

Example (my system):

Monitor : 23" aluminum
Video card manufacturer : ATI
Video card model : 9800 Pro AIW 128m
Operating system : Win XP SP2
Displays post info : no
Displays GUI : yes @ 1920x1200 and lower

Comments: works flawlessly at multiple resolutions once Windows starts. Does not function at all with Fedora Core 3. Bios date: June 2003.

Hi there,

Just saw your post on the compatibility for the apple 20 inch display
(anodised aluminium) and graphics card 9800 PRO.

I couldn't send you an email (bounced) so will have to post here 🙂

I have a graphics card of the 9800 series (DVI output, i think 256
RAM). Just wondering if it supports the optimal resolution of 1680 x
1050?

Also, what's the thing about inferior wide screen options?

Thanks!

Comments: Using Gefen ADC Switcher to share display with my Mac. Using ADC > DVI converter to connect to the switchbox. Old 23" display used ADC.
