Freeze Framing & Video Filters

Hey! I have a 2 part Question.

How do you freeze (pause) a video so that it continues playing but the one clip is frozen?

What is the name of the Video Filter you use to make it look like it's an old movie, like the reel had holes in it or maybe burnt out celluloide? Im trying to make it look like a Charlie Chaplin sort of short.

Thanks!!

1. I think we misunderstood each other. I can play it on the timeline but I dont want the clip to actually keep going. There's other clips playing with it at the same time, but this one in particular needs to be frozen, know what I mean?

2. Thanks! I downloaded it but now I'm not sure how to make it work? If I click it from the finder, FCP says, "Wrong type". Know what I can do?

1. Not quite clear what you mean. I thought you wanted to freeze a frame as if moving images freeze on a given frame.

2. You don't want to click the plugin like that. After downloading the plug-in drag it to Macintosh HD / Library / Application Support /Final Cut Pro System Support / Plugins folder.

Finally restart Final Cut Pro and the plug-in should show up in the effects menu (CGM folder I think).

1. I apologize for sounding FCP illiterate. You know how at the end of a cheesy movie, they just kind of freeze the frame of whatever is happening? Like at the very end of Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban. The movie keeps rolling but the one particular frame is frozen in the action. I think we're talking about the samr thing but Im not clear on how to do it still 😟

2. Excellent, thank you!
