Hi Peggy,

Different question. The OP wanted to "translate $500.56 to Five hundred and 56/100 dollars? "

Convert Table to Text changes a table of numbers (or text) to a set of tab(and return)-separated text strings in the line of text.

eg. A 3x3 table containing the numbers 1 to 9 is converted to:

1tab2tab3return4tab5tab6return7tab8tab9

and displays in the text as:

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

Barry

Here is a sample of what can be done. Only goes up to 999.99 but you can add thousands, ten thousands, and on. Hide columns C through G. I left them visible for now. I also notice I did not add the word "dollars" to the end so I'll leave that to you.

Edit 1: MobileMe is asking for a password for some reason today, even though this file isn't password protected. I think anything you type for the password will work.

Edit 2: And I spelled "Forty" incorrectly. There may be other typos as well.

Go with badunit's technique.

It's similar to what I did with AppleWorks some years ago to produce worksheets ('Write one thousand two hundred seventeen and five tenths as a numeral.') for my upper elementary students, and modified later to print cheques.

I used a different method deconstruct the number, but within the limits stated, bu's technique does the job nicely.

Barry

Edit: I see you've decided to do that while I was looking for my old file. 🙂

If my memory is not too bad from my iDisk:

you may get for free:
For_iWork:iWork '08:for Numbers:Nbr_in_Letters_forNumbers.zip
which was written to do the trick.

If it's really fitting the OP's needs, I may enhance it to take benefit of features added in Numbers '09.
