iPod not showing up in iTunes...

It says "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software".

I've tried reinstalling iTunes, but it just downloads to the part where it says "Initializing Quicktime Types", then it stops and won't install anymore.

Please, help!

I have the exact same problem here! Although, I'm trying to transfer the music from my grandparent's iTunes to my iPod Nano that I got for Christmas.. They had an iPod Shuffle so it hasn't been updated the past 3 years... in 2007 yes. When I try to install the updated version it keeps stopping at "C:/Program Files" and says to retry. Any suggestions people?
