Q: New iMac 27inch screen flickering/tearing/shutoff

I have been experiencing some problems with the all new iMac 27inch display.
At non-fixed intervals i will get one of the following:

Screen distortion/flicker somewhere random in the screen (feels like it is more in the lower part) that looks like a horizontal bar of about 2-3inches just popping in and out of the screen.

Screen will go completely black for a second and then come back on. Sometimes 2-3 times in a row.

Somebody else already made some video-clips about these problems, I am experiencing exactly the same behaviour.

Just to not that in the course of writing this post my screen has flickered 13 times and has gone black 2 times.

The second firmware didn't help me either.

Still getting little dropouts and surges in brightness every few minutes.

My machine is also over two weeks old and no flicker before or after this fix. Just finished creating a birth announcement in Photoshop Elements and OnOne and all is well.

hmmm.....I guess I'll get around to installing the update soon. I have had screen flicker and blackouts, but not so much lately. Apple had replaced my logic board once....and then they are sending someone to my house tomorrow to replace the video card for some reason. Why would they do both those things if it's as simple as a firmware update? sounds like some idiots helped me on the phone when I called Apple Care. I'll keep people updated if I have any issues after the firmware update for the Display.

How on earth do you guys get Apple to come to your home & repair your Mac? Is that something like Apple Care Plus? I never heard of them coming to your home.

My replacement 27" i7 was delivered by Fedex today. It is a week 05. Physically, all is well. I won't be able to set up and test the machine until Tuesday.

A week 05? If your iMac isn't flawless, we are all in trouble! That's brand spankin' new hot off the Press. That was made this Week. Had you get one so new?

FedEx just dropped off my Week 05 iMac i7. Ordered it on Jan 2nd and it was delivered this morning 2 days early ahead of schedule. The outer brown box was slightly damaged and it did not have any kind of "Handle with Care" or "Fragile" labels. Apart from some scuff marks, it looked like it had a somewhat easy trip. The inner Apple packaging was in good condition. No surprises during unpacking. Took my time checking (and hoping not to find) any of the issues detailed on http://www.imac.squeaked.com
With my daughters help, we couldn't find a single dead pixel on the screen or iSight camera. Whew, so far so good. Not out of the woods yet.
The Seagate 1TB is quiet and I did not see any scratches when ejecting a "test" CD. Then we notice a faint yellow tinge across the bottom one-third of the display. Bummer! My daughter was able to see the color difference even without me telling her what to look for.
As you all know, it's a bit to early to make any kind of call on the flickering. But so far, so good.
    I'll keep everyone posted.

I just installed the update, as it was restarting I had 2 x blackscreens happen, which had not happen on this machine only the occasional flicker.
    Not a good sign

Slippers, A Week 05 & still Yellow? This absolutely Proves what the Rep told me on the phone. They don't have a fix yet. So even an iMac made last week has defects. Thank you for the info. I was almost sure you guys getting Week 04 iMacs would get perfect machines. Sorry!
