Q: New iMac 27inch screen flickering/tearing/shutoff

I have been experiencing some problems with the all new iMac 27inch display.
At non-fixed intervals i will get one of the following:

Screen distortion/flicker somewhere random in the screen (feels like it is more in the lower part) that looks like a horizontal bar of about 2-3inches just popping in and out of the screen.

Screen will go completely black for a second and then come back on. Sometimes 2-3 times in a row.

Somebody else already made some video-clips about these problems, I am experiencing exactly the same behaviour.

Just to not that in the course of writing this post my screen has flickered 13 times and has gone black 2 times.

Atlatnesiti could you please make all of us a BIG favor and leave us alone with our thread? Just do not read it anymore and be happy with your perfect iMac...

I personally have waited so far to buy a 27" i7 and I think I will be waiting few weeks more before pulling the trigger: yellow tinge is still worrying me a bit and I would like to spend my money wisely....

However I think that this thread has been extremely useful for a lot of people that like myself were trying to get access to real infos before deciding what to do. Keep up the good work and long life to this thread !

Yea faxao, this is exactly my situation. We' re in the same boat.

I think we should not be so angry with altatnesiti and respect his way of thinking, too. He is the one, who reminds us from time to time that we're making circles in the sand. I can understand him, but I have another motivation to participate to this never ending thread. I NEED SOME ANSWERS!

Interesting response (NOT) since you don't even own a Mac (why are you posting here ?!)
    Trolling are we ...?!
BTW; I am "out of here", this post has become a joke.

PS; For unaware, Apple firmware ver. 1 & 2 have fixed the "flickering" problem and "yellowing" issue for 99% of users

Yellowing? Everyone on here knows that is Not True! There has been no Firmware update thus far to fix Yellowing. Please Don't Put Misinformation On Here! You Say You Hate This Thread & want it closed, but I cannot for the Life of me understand why you come back here every week or so to try & shut it down & torment People. Don't you have anything better to do? Where would go to torment people if not for this thread to satisfy your need to torment?

Thank you very much Philip, but these informations are not new and we already discussed here about them.

BTW Can somebody confirm that Apple offered full refunds plus 15 percent in USA&UK or can we say that this was just a false rumor?

    Hi Warren,

what're we doing with Dino, when he reaches post number 1000? I think, you're the one with the pictures, so what about fireworks. Could you arrange that for us?

    Sorry, completely out off topic.

I took delivery of a 27" i7 iMac 3 days ago. It is a relief to report that the screen is nearly flawless; no flickering, no yellow-tinge, no dead pixels, no stuck pixels, no dust under the screen.

There is a some backlight bleed around the perimeter. However it is what I consider average for an LCD panel. It has equivalent backlight bleed / variation to my white 24" iMac, and i'm picky enough that absolutely any variation would be noticed. With this iMac, it is only perceptible on a completely black screen viewed from 3 or less feet away. It is almost impossible to see on merely predominately black full screen images and is also almost impossible to see in windows with black backgrounds (unless full screen).

In other words, people here are raving about the excellent screen quality of this newly delivered iMac. Only one commented on the bleed and that's because he was busy surveying every square inch of the screen, his nose nearly touching the screen as if inspecting a diamond. lol One second later he was busy being amazed again.

Well, I have to admit that most of the flickering I see is while playing flash games in Firefox. Regular browsing in FF has no issues. Flashing screen while in the finder happens but is quite rare. Was editing music in Peak LE (lots of graphics and screen updates) and no flash at all. So anecdotally, yah I would see flash as part of the problem, but just an observation.

Darrin, that is Great News for sure. Could you please tell us what Week Number you have? 4th & 5th Digit of Serial Number. Thank you. I would predict you got one from this month & year, by your positive Report. Thanks! And enjoy your beautiful iMac!

Johnmc, thank you for this information.

I heard that the new iPads don't have Adobe's Flash Player (please correct me if I'm wrong).
