Converting 16:9

I have footage that was shot 16:9 that is edited in a 16x9 timeline (1920x1080). I want to create a file that is cropped at a 4:3 ratio. How can I do this?

I can export the footage via the Aja and set it to crop and go to tape or DVD that way, but how can I just fix the timeline so that I can export it as a file at 4:3 without distorting the image, just cropping the edges to 4:3.

I figured it out myself. I just changed the size in the export settings to 720x486, then I selected the crop feature to maintain correct aspect.

You mean you just sliced off the right and left sides (centre cut)?

Yikes. How did it look? Did the shooter protect for 4:3?

Or do you mean you created a letterboxed output containing the entire wide image within a 4:3 frame.

At any rate, there are thousands of threads here on how to do all of these things.
