Panasonic AG-HMC40 Log and Transfer causes crash

I just purchased the Panasonic AG-HMC40 and shot some my first test footage. I can view the footage with the AVCCAM Viewer software from Panasonic but am having trouble importing the clips into FCP7 using the Log and Transfer function. The clip thumbnails show up on the left side of the L&T window and I can even play the clips using the L&T Viewer.

However, when I add a clip to the Queue for transcode and import, the progress bar advances about 20% as if everything is fine but then abruptly stops and the application crashes. This happens with any of the 4 clips I'm attempting to import and happens whether I'm attempting to import from the camera or files copied to external hard drive. I've changed the import codecs; same results.

Any ideas?

I just found another post which lead me to the probable cause. Apparently, FCP7 doesn't support the 720p60 version of the Panasonic AVCHD codec. 720p24 and 720p30 import fine but 60 fps footage causes crashes.

I've not shot any 1080 footage yet; hopefully a fix for this is forthcoming.

This problem appears to have been resolved with the Mac OS X 10.6.2 software update. FCP 7 will now import (via Log and Transfer) all video formats recorded on Panasonic AVCHD cameras including 720p60. Cinema Tools will properly conform 720p60 footage to 23.98fps for slow motion effects.
