My Mac Has Start-up issues

Hi there.
My mac every now and then will distort the display while using it, and i have to restart.
When i restart the screen is off placed to the right. And will then kernel panic.
How ever. after booting it a few times and booting in to single user mode it boots.
I have the Error message Mac OS X Tells me.
