mini display port to HDMI adapter not working

I purchased the appropriate apple mini display port to HDMI adapter, and connected to my samsung hdtv and I get nothing. No signal. Is there something else I'm supposed to do (besides plug it into the computer and tv) to get this working?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5)

Hi Kater24,

Apple doesn't make a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so the one you've got there is a 3rd party one that's designed to work with the Mini DisplayPort on your Apple computer. The adapter is pretty much plug-n-play, there's no configuration necessary. Plug it into the machine, the HDMI cable from the other end of the adapter into your TV, select the HDMI input on your TV and fire up the computer.

If that's not working it's possibly an issue with the adapter and/or cable to the TV. Any chance you might have access to another TV for troubleshooting purposes?
