IMX 50 Export

Hi Guys

I had to export an 8bit uncompressed project to MPEG IMX 625/50 (50 Mb/s) file to be sent to TV. The company came back to me saying on the last few frames where it fades to black they can see some ghost frames from the start of the music video and it is a common problem exporting this codec from FCP, Anyone else know about this? Would a fade out transition on the last bit of footage help this?

I have been asked to export using Compressor instead but can't find these settings?

Thanks in advance.

hmmmm,
seems very weird to me....
never heard of...
Do you see those ghostframes on your computer as well?

You might try to add some slug at the end of your sequence.
And do a Cross Dissolve to that.
Now (to prevent making your video longer in time) set and In point at beginning and an outpoint at end dissolve and export again.

Does that solve the problem?

Open up Compressor, right click on the Apple > Other Workflows > Advanced Format Conversions > Standard Definition > SD Uncompressed 8-bit PAL setting and choose Duplicate from the context menu. Open up the duplicated preset into the Inspector window and go to the Encoder tab then click in the Video: Settings... button and switch the Compression Type to MPEG IMX 625/50 (50 Mb/s) and click OK. Now give it a suitable Name and Description and Save your new IMX preset.

Or if the TV station will accept an MXF formatted IMX file then try Sony's free XDCAM Transfer app which will add a Sony XDCAM option to FCP's Export menu ... in there you'll then be able to export direct to an IMX 625/50 MXF file.

Or similarly have a look at MXF4Mac's GC Export FCP plugin .. this is an expensive commercial solution but if this is something you need to do often then you can be certain with this that your output will be complaint with required standards
