getting this error "Lyrics detected but unable to retrieve"

I have added lyrics to loads of songs fine, but however I get this on a few,

"Lyrics detected but unable to retrieve"

I have checked in iTunes that the lyrics are their, in text with nothing unusual on. I click the lyrics on the iPod Nano (4G) and get the spinny wheel but then get the error "Lyrics detected but unable to retrieve"

Can anyone help please this is really annoying, I have the latest iTunes and iPod software on

Hello the loc-man,

Try converting the ID tags in iTunes, and then syncing the updated changes to your iPod.

To do this, locate the songs you are unable to retrieve lyrics from on your iPod, right->click on it and choose "Convert ID" tags. A small window will pop up with a few options for you to select. For the best results, tick the option that says ID3tag version, and choose either version 2.2 or 2.3 for the version. After the conversion has finished, sync the updated changes to your iPod.

before I done this, I checked using "get info" and it shows the tag of the songs as v2.4 anyway 😟

what else can I try/do to fix this please?

Yes, but did you try converting them to version 2.2 or 2.3 instead as I suggested above?

I've run into the same bug.

Mine were already V2.3 tags. Have tried converting to V2.2, no difference.

No special characters in the lyrics. Nice clean file.

Works beautifully in WMP lyrics. Soundcrank has no problems either.

I've used a combination of copy/paste, Soundcrank and iArt to populate my lyrics.

It's very rare that this brand new 5th gen nano will display lyrics. 90% of the time it fails with the error message:
"Lyrics detected but unable to retrieve"

Looks like this bug has been plaguing Apple for many years now. Are they always this delinquent in fixing bugs?
