Hi DrumminFoo92,

100 C is 212 F which is not normal for WoW. I've playing WoW since mid-2005 and on every Apple portable I've owned (even a 12" PowerBook G4). On my current machine, the fans will usually race to 6000rpm within 5 minutes of playing and stay there until about 2-3 minutes after I'm done playing. What temperature widget are you running? My machine will usually hover around 140-160 F while playing Warcraft.

i am using iStat Menu version 1.3

and Jason thats why i think my mbp might be defective or something... cuz it jumps up to 90 to 100c pretty quickly... and i've heard of people having pretty low temps while playing games...

one thing however... i have heard the 2.93 gHz cpu gets hotter simply because its a higher voltage am i correct? and thats the main themperature that my istat is reading..

btw what is the print screen combo on macs?? ill try to get a screen shot

Hi DrumminFoo92,

I can't comment on the 2.93GHz situation, I know the two people in our guild that play on 17" MacBook Pro have older models (not the latest and greatest). It'd seem odd that the new machines run a full 10-15 degrees warmer, Celsius. It might be worth asking this question in the Mac support forums via Blizzard's forum and see what other users are reporting for the newest 17" MacBook Pro.

I've got the 2.16 GHz Core Duo Mac Pro - and have been hitting 100C during WOW time also. I'll be taking it in again soon.
This happened about 6 months ago and Apple (thanks to extended warranty) fixed it for free. Immediately after the repair temps dropped to 60-70 C and stayed there for a few months. Only recently have I had the heating issues again.

I normally run on a cooling pad with no 'shells' on the computer, plus my house tends to the cold. The other day it was 55 F in my house and my laptop hit 95 C 😟

My recommendation - if your laptop is over 90 take it in.
