file system support in snow leopard

Hello,
I am looking for a list of supported filesystems in os x 10.6. I'm having troubles writing to a (not journaled) hfs+ data partition and would like to remove these problems by formatting it ext4 (dual boot, os x and ubuntu). Osx does not seem to support ext4, are there any options here? It seems even 10.6 supports few filesystems and the the support is poor at that. Thanks for any info,

Do you have MacFuse in your System Preferences. If yes, the icon with take you to the MacFuse website--which may be pertinent to you.

Thank you,
I will try to get things going on the other end (ubuntu) though I'd like to point out that choice is good to have and I haven't been forced to use anything specific for awhile, and ext4 seems to simply be a better filesystem, though I wouldn't know a lot about that. Cheers,
