Because of all the issues with HP I was thinking I may look to a different brand, is there a brand out there that is made for Mac as opposed to made for a PC?

No such animal. It's all in the driver. HP seems to have screwed the pooch as regards Snow Leopard. Brother, on the other hand, seems to have its act together. I would be looking at another brand than HP at this point.

Just to be clear, 100% of the HP drivers included in Snow Leopard are CUPS. We are committed to CUPS and have been for a while (all new printers have been shipping with CUPS drivers for years). The problems with the 1022 are specific to transitioning to CUPS drivers (the older Tioga ones don't have the same problems). We are working through the issues on this one printer, and will hopefully have it fully functional soon. All of the other HP supported printers work just find under Snow Leopard.

Just trying to help.
