How to add radio station to Apple TV?

Yeah I would also be really interested to see how this might be possible. I'm sure that must be hackable, it can't be that hard..

this is pre ATV 3.0. I would be interested to know if you add a radio station to the synced itunes account if it updates to your ATV.

The macosxhint method for adding radio stations should still work with v 3.0, however they will still appear in the described playlist rather than under the internet/radio section added by v 3.0

Make a playlist in iTunes of just the radio stations you want to listen to on the ATV, then sync it. Playlists made exclusively of Internet radio stations will appear in the Internet -> Radio -> Playlists section of the ATV menu.

If a radio station has an iTunes compatible link on their web site, it will be added to the iTunes music library automatically if you click it. You can then add it to a playlist for use on the ATV. The AAC links on the sky.fm web page work this way.

If there is a particular radio station you want that is not in the Radio list in iTunes, send a message to the station and ask them to add a link on their web site to an iTunes compatible stream.

Do you have playlists turned off ?

I far as I know I don't have playlists turned off. Is that an Apple TV setting?

I don't know if that is messing things up or not.

The .pls extension is for playlists, the important aspect is the format of the stream. If the stream is in MP3 or AAC format you may be able to open it iTunes by right-clicking on it and then selecting iTunes as the app to open it in. If you can open it in iTunes, it will be added to the Music library and then you can put it in a playlist from there. If the stream can't be opened in iTunes, you should send them a message and ask them to add an iTunes compatible stream.

I have followed every instruction to the letter (AFAIK) and have two screenshots of my iTunes:

However the playlist doesn't show up on my AppleTV, neither under Music and Internet:Radio.

Could anybody please point me in the correct direction (or maybe even try if the stream works on their AppleTV.

Make sure the link shows up in the Music section of iTunes, otherwise it hasn't been properly imported. If it is, check the ATV sync settings in iTunes and make sure the playlist is set to sync to the ATV.

Thanks, the stream does show up in the music section: I can play it from there as well. The stream is ticked as well and the playlist is selected to be synced. When I look at the AppleTV in iTunes it seems the playlist with the stream is synced, but it doesn't show up on the AppleTV interface..

I managed to make it work: First create a playlist and add some random radio stations from iTunes Radio directory. Sync this playlist with AppleTV, it showed up under Internet:Radio. Now place some of your other favorite radio stations in the playlist and re-sync. Now they show up as well!

Finally you can delete the radio stations you've added in the first step.
