"MIDI TIMEOUT" arrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!

Was editing midi in Piano Roll in Logic 9 Express when this little "*Midi Timeout*. Please restart...." window came up. No previous issues. Reinstalled Apogee and Midi Sport drivers. Restarted a dozen times, Logic will open but not run. Running Snow Leopard. No control surface involved. Anyone with any help to solve this would be appreciated.
