PPC + Leopard + Photoshop 7.0 = disaster. So what are my options?

I made the rather unfortunate discovery on the weekend that now I have (finally) upgraded to Leopard (10.5.8) on my PPC G5, Photoshop 7.01 breaks and no longer runs. I downloaded the Photoshop Elements 8.0 trial - but it only runs on Intel.

What are my options? I believe Photoshop Elements 6.0 runs on PPC + 10.5.8 - can anyone confirm? (and is it still available?).

Will Photoshop Elements 6.0 read and edit Photoshop 7.0.1 files? What are the main photoshop capabilities not supported in Elements (eg. does Photoshop Elements 6.0 support layers, masks, paths, macros?)

Photoshop CS4 is horribly expensive and it appears there is no upgrade path from 7.0 to CS3 or CS4.

Urk.

PS 7 and PSE 2 are not compatible with leopard. Newer versions of either should work, starting with PS CS1 and PSE 3.

Elements does not have CMYK, LAB color, ability to create actions or run them on a folder full of images at a time, pen tool, etc., etc. Masks are not part of PSE but can be added. Elements versions after PSE 3 are crippled for curves (there is a curves tool in PSE 6 and higher, but it only lets you work in the combined RGB channel).

Yes, PSE can read your PS files, unless they contain layer sets or comps, which PSE doesn't understand.
