How do you keep the Quicktime Icon off of the Windows 'Tray'?

I use quicktime along with everyone else, which is fine. Problem is when I remove the tray icon (using msconfig)it doesn't stay removed. I am not sure if the next use of quicktime puts it back or it comes back by some other method. I'd like to know how to keep it from reinstalling itself on the 'tray'.

Okay, rather than using MSCONFIG, let's use QuickTime's internal preferences instead.

Open your QuickTime control panel. Click the "Advanced" tab. Uncheck "Install QuickTime icon in System Tray" and click okay.

(An update of QuickTime shouldn't change that preference, so, next time, the icon should stay out of the tray.)
