pair with keyboard after startup
It seems like everytime my computer shuts down at 3am and starts up at 6am to save energy, it opens the bluetooth utility and has to pair with only the keyboard again. it never asks to repair the mouse. why is this?

I do not know the answer to your question. However, I would suggest you stop shutting your computer down. When you are not using it, put it to sleep (the energy use is about that of a night light). Also, in knowledge base articles, Apple indicates that their computers are designed to run 24x7. I do sleep mine to conserve energy as well. I only shut down if I am out of town for a couple of days.
