Problem with erasing and event

Got something strange here! Had an event with 160ish photo "stored" in that event. I have deleted the event by dragging it to the bin. But I have noted that the event is still there! When I click again to try to drag it to the bin then it is mentioned that iPhoto cannot locate the photo an d to be able to escape I have to cancel the same message on all photos. Even more interesting is to notice that with File Maker Bento3 that manages now the integration of iPhoto I can see the icons of the photos.
Can anybody help me here to eventually get rid of that event and all its content?
