Which mouse consumes less power - Bluetooth or USB wireless?

I am going to buy a wireless mouse soon. Which type consumes less battery power - Bluetooth or USB?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Hi Flash,

I get about a month, 6 weeks on the top end with my Apple Bluetooth mouse. The daily use is somewhere in the neighborhood of ~10 hours, 5 days a week. I had a Microsoft wireless mouse (via the USB dongle) and I found similar battery performance (about a month) with the same usage patterns.

Personally, I prefer Bluetooth, as the dongle was tying up one of the two USB ports I had which made peripheral management a little harder.

Hi Flash Elk,

Gotcha, the question was a bit vague but thanks for clarifying. While I haven't done extensive battery life testing with a USB (wired) mouse, I will say that I routinely leave Bluetooth on even when it's not in use. I've found minimal battery drain over and above typical draw, WiFi for the most part is the bigger draw. If I had to guesstimate, I'd say it's a differential of ~15 minutes extra life with Bluetooth off.
