iTunes could not connect to iPhone Error 0xE8000065

I purchased iPhone 3GS a month ago and it worked fine with my old computer. Too bad it crashed and I just bought my new PC (Intel Core-i7 870, Asus P7P55D Motherboard) running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I had the latest iphone firmware and also downloaded the latest itunes 64-bit.

Tried many times and unable to connect iphone to my computer. The first time it says "Apple device installed". Then I got "MTP USB Device installation failed".

iTunes always pops out an error - *iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065)*
Please kindly advise what to do. Thanks!

I have the same exactly problem. I was trying to update my iPhone with my new computer.

I have:
Windows 7
Asus P7p55d motherboard.

I downloaded the latest iTunes.

For one, it wouldn't let me connect. Then it told me: The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred.

So now I can't even use the phone.

I've tried everything.

Hold on, this thread may need to be expanded to include older computers. I'm on an old Compaq Presario Windows-XP 32-bit (lastest everything, including iTunes 9 and ITouch 3.1.1) and I get the same error.

This occured for me after the first complete sync, on second usage to select the playlists I wanted instead of the whole library.

This is happening to me also. After installing Windows 7-64, the sync with my Ipod freezes after a couple of songs transfers. Tried everything imaginable: Itunes reinstall, execute with compability to VIsta, energy safe mode off to USB ports/hubs, cable change, restore Ipod. I have a Acer Aspire M3641, lastest ITunes version, latest software on Ipod. Please Microsoft, Apple, Intel, whoever, WAKE UP !!! Code 0xE8000065

Im having this issue too since the 1st day i have the iphone 3gs.
I was happy that the window 7 finnaly came out n hoping that my problem using the previous OS Vista Ultimate 64 bit can be solved.

The same problem occured with the same error code as per title.
To be specific it has to do with the Apple Mobile Device USB driver that seem not compatible with the 64 bit version.

Now i cant sync anything from my computer and my iphone 3gs has nothing special other than the default application.

I hope this issue will be solved ASAP.Thanx
