Audio with No Video

I'm producing a music video of sorts. Is there anyway at all to have a separate audio track running with no video to go over it in iMovie '09? Like in Windows Movie Maker?

I just want the audio running over nothing. That way, I can drop in my clips to sync up with the audio.

The way iMovie '09 is by default, makes syncing a pain in the ***!

PLEASE HELP!

Yes. Drag in the music track to a new project. Then use the beat marker feature.

No go bro.

New Project. Check.
Add music track. Check
Add Beat Marker. Grayed out and not clickable.

So I take it there's no way to do it in an existing project either?

Yeah, I see what you mean about Beat Markers, but that still doesn't allow me what I want to do.

I want to have a full on audio track, that I can play and drop in video clips as I see fit.

I don't want to arrange my video first then add my music.

sigh

i get how to do the beat markers. I'm good on that.

i'm guessing the answer to my question is, "No. iMovie can't play just an audio track with nothing on top of it in Project Mode. It can however, play the entire clip in Clip Trimmer mode, but not in the Project mode."

It is really not solved. But I found out that I needed to send Apple feedback to get this issue fixed, seeing as how iMovie is not capable of doing what I want it to actually do.
