different Serial number on box and phone? how warranty ends in dec 2010?

Hi,
Hi have these two questions

1-I bought this iphone 3gs on the classifieds and the serial number on the box and on the phone is different? How can that be?

2- The serial number on the box has a warranty that ends december 1st 2010, how can that be if the warranty is for one year and we're not yet in december 2009?

It's not a new in box phone.

2- The serial number on the box has a warranty that ends december 1st 2010, how can that be if the warranty is for one year and we're not yet in december 2009?

What does the serial number on the phone say for a warranty? It doesn't matter what the box says.

He had two, swapped the boxes so you ended up with the wrong one.

2- The serial number on the box has a warranty that ends december 1st 2010, how can that be if the warranty is for one year and we're not yet in december 2009?

He may have extended the warranty (Applecare) on the one he kept (or on the one the box goes with).

The dates are a bit confusing, though: Does the box you have 3G or 3GS?

I have no idea but the only serial number that is really relevant is the one on the phone.

Hi, it's not a new phone the guy told me he used it for a week. The warranty for the serial number on the phone says it ends at the end of october 2010.
But how can the warranty from the serial number on the box only stars in december when we're only in november?

Hi, I did check the warranties on the link that Jason L posted and that's where I saw that the warranty starts december 1st 2010.

@w7ox The iphone is a 3gs same as the box. but I think warranty can be extended for one year and it's only been 3-4 months that the 3gs came out.

Right. That's why I said "The dates are a bit confusing, though" and asked about the box (a 3G box could explain it). Hard to figure how a one year extension would take it only to Dec 2010.
