Battery drain when using google sync

I noticed a little extra battery drain since I set-up the google sync (Exchange ActiveSync). I am only syncing my contacts. Can I turn off the syncing of my contacts and turn it back on whenever I want to sync to conserve battery life?

I did it a different way...

Settings-Mail, Contacts, Calendars-Fetch New Data-Advanced-Contacts-Select Schedule-Manual.

Fetch new data is set for push on for my yahoo email. I can easily get through the day on a full charge with push on for my yahoo email. I was just concerned that keeping the calendar push on would hit my battery up pretty good and I might not get through the day on a full charge.

No doubt.

I could not figure out your way to do it. I hope my way does the trick. I assume that you can have certain things set at push (mail) and certain set at manual (contacts)? The reason why I ask this is that Fetch New Data-Push is on and the calendar is set to manual under advanced. Make sense? Maybe I am a little confused 🙂
